Anna Odom Rice, age 88, a resident of Stapleton, AL passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Ann is survived by her husband Gene Rice, 5 step children Anthony(Melanie) Rice, Jimmie(Kathi) Rice, Denny(Michele) Rice, Terry(Tracey) Rice, Tanya(Tony) Waters, 7 Step grandchildren, 4 Great grandchildren, Terra(Del) Lewis Jr., Stoney Waddill, Michael Davis Jr, and Nicole(Jonathon) Drouillard, 4 great great grandchildren 1 neice Janice Crenshaw and 2 great nephews. Ann was preceeded in death by her brother W.D. Adkison, sister Lou Schenck and granddaugher Tori Breazeale. Ann was a member of the VFW and Order of The Eastern Star. She has been mother, grandmother, friend, sister and aunt to many. Everyone who met this beautiful lady has been honored to have known her. She embodied everything we as her family ever hoped to be. Incredibly strong and independent, yet very gentle and kind. When she laughed, she held nothing back. She had an amazing sense of humor and wit. She was the life of the party everywhere she went. She gave love freely and deeply. We have never known anyone to be so graceful. She endured so much loss and pain but you would never catch her dwelling on things which she could not change. She was so full of old southern charm.... with this thick, old southern drawl... and had these beautiful, soft blue eyes... you could always see so much wisdom and love in her eyes. She has greatly influenced the lives of each and everyone of us. If we can live and love just half as much as this beautiful lady did, then we have all accomplished something great in life. We will miss mornings with you...waking up to the smell of you making breakfast... watching the way you always captured the attention of a room... and the endless kindness and wisdom you shared with everyone. We will always love you Momma Ann. The Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 12 noon with visitation starting at 10 am until service time. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. We would like to say a special thank you to Mrs.Ella, who loved (Mrs. Ann) as her own, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for spending the last three years with our Momma Ann and helping Gene as much as possible.
