Ann was born in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Jack and Bernice Scoper. She met the love of her life, William Lee Jones, in Pritchard, Alabama. They worked at Brookley Air Force Base, and when it closed, the couple moved to Perry to work at Robins Air Force Base. They soon joined the First Baptist Church of Perry and have been faithful members and servants for over 56 years. Ann was a member of The Joy Sunday School Class. The couple enjoyed taking their children to their waterfront property in Creola, Alabama. Ann was an excellent skier and was thrilled to teach her children to enjoy life on the water and time with family. As her children were in school, she grew to love Westfield. She and Bill attended almost every event, whether it was a ball game or an honors program. She was a homemaker for years, working at home to provide an encouraging and loving environment in which to raise their children. Once her oldest child reached age 16, she took a position as an Aircraft Records Clerk at Robins Air Force Base, from where she retired after nearly twenty-four years of Civil service. They bought a cabin in the mountains, Wildwood on Pink Mountain, near Helen, Georgia, and spent weeks at a time taking the grandchildren whenever time allowed. Everyone who knew Ann knew of her great love of swinging outside, where she was often found listening to and watching the birds.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Ann are her loving and devoted husband of nearly sixty-eight years, Bill Jones of Perry; her children, Billy Jones (Holly) of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Pam LeClair-Cox (Jimmy) of Kathleen; her grandchildren, Mark LeClair (Kristin), Rachel LeClair, Catherine Jones Musgrove (Michael), and Rebecca Jones Lindgren (Todd); five great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Scoper (Anita); her sister-in-law, Pat Scoper; and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer “Sonny” Scoper; and a son-in-law, Chuck LeClair.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
