Alva "Sherwood" Copeland Sr.'s Obituary
Age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 30th 2016. He was born on October 9th 1934 in Carrollton MS. On Feb 26 1954 he married Rebecca Copeland (Miller). Together they had 6 children. Sherwood graduated from Moss Point High in 1953. After graduating he was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding for 35 years as an electrician where he made many lifelong friends. He was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Pascagoula. In his free time he loved spending time with his family, watching Alabama football and fishing. As a believing Christian he enjoyed caring for all of God’s creations. He was preceded in death by his beloved children Renee’, David and Karen. Left to honor Sherwood and remember his love are his wife Rebecca; his children Alva, Cynthia and Charles; his grandchildren Timothy (Simone),Anthony (Brandy),Natalie, David (Dayna), Trenton, Roderick, Jerick (Caitlyn), Nina, Anthony, Derick (Kirstin), Tyler, Keith and Maudee and his great-grandchildren Austin, Alyssa, Jaina, David , Jax, Kyleigh, Raeley, Carter, Konnor. Visitation will be held at First Baptist church of Dawes, 3941 Dawes Rd., Mobile, AL 36695 on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10 am with lunch served at 11 am. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12 noon at First Baptist Church of Dawes. Following the services at church, he will be laid to rest at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
