Althea Epperson Duncan's Obituary
Age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jimmie F. Duncan, children, Cecelia (Robert) Hayes-Heath, Jimmie Duncan, Jr., Margie (Terry) Christopher, Mark (Charlene) Duncan, Theresa (Terry) Wilkinson, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Lamar Blan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12 noon with visitation from 10 am until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.Althea was raised on Stein Street in Springhill. As a young woman, she was secretary of Springhill Baptist Church, where she attended services and sang in the choir. After marrying Jimmie Duncan and while raising her five children, she worked as the neighborhood Avon representative. As her children grew up, she was the office administrator for her husband's business, Duncan Electric Garage. In later years, she was a caregiver with Home Instead Senior Care. Althea loved her family and friends. She always made everyone around her feel comfortable and cared for, like family.
