Allen 'Art' Ralph Tabor's Obituary
Allen "Art" Ralph Tabor, Jr., 53, passed away on November 18, 2017, after an extended illness. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Perry United Methodist Church. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the PUMC sanctuary. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions to Special Olympics Georgia, 4000 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Suite 400, Building 400, Atlanta, Georgia 30340, or to the Perry United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 73, Perry, Georgia 31069.Art was born in Macon, Georgia on May 22, 1964, to Elizabeth P. Tabor and the late Allen Ralph Tabor, Sr. In his earlier years, Art attended Happy Hour School in Warner Robins. Art attended Perry High School and received his Special Education Diploma in 1985. He moved to Macon where he lived and worked at Agape Village for several years. He later worked at Happy Hour Workshop in Warner Robins, where he enjoyed working on various projects. On the weekends, Art would visit his family. He enjoyed his mother's cooking, eating his favorite foods and he frequently referred to whatever he was eating as "my favorite". He also enjoyed bowling, playing Uno and other activities with his family, including attending church and Sunday School, and then going out to eat. Art was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church and the Howell Cobb Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Ralph Tabor, Sr.Left to cherish the memories of Art are his mother, Elizabeth P. Tabor of Perry, his sisters, Mary Cummings (Lloyd) of Warner Robins and Beth Tabor Mitchell (Larry) of Perry; his nieces Elizabeth Cummings of Los Angeles, California and Katie Sheldon (Zac) of Asheville, North Carolina; his great nephew and great niece, Henry and Ella Sheldon of Asheville, North Carolina. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Pruitt Health Macon and Pruitt Health Hospice for the services they provided to Art during the past few months, as well as the staff of River Edge in Macon and Happy Hour in Warner Robins for the role they played in his life while he was under their care. A heartfelt Thank You is extended to the sitters who spent many hours, day and night, with Art helping to alleviate his fears and reassure him that someone who cared for him was nearby. The family is particularly grateful to Sheran McRae for her invaluable commitment and services provided to Art during his stay at Pruitt Health Macon.
