Dr. King was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph T. and Martha Rooney King. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and, while still living, was believed to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest, World War II Veteran. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University, where he volunteered as a professor for many years. Dr. King was a practicing OB/GYN in the Washington, D. C. area for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he began woodworking as a hobby, and soon created many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. In 1987, he moved to Perry, GA, with his brother, Hugh King, and his sister, Martha King. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kathleen. Dr. King moved to The Church Home in 2001, where he will be dearly missed by those who loved him and took care of him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph King and Hugh King; his sisters, Martha King and Mary King Wells; 1 niece; and 3 nephews.
Left to cherish the memories of "Al" are 8 nieces and nephews; over 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; and over 75 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
