Alfred Franklin Rice's Obituary
Alfred Franklin Rice, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Entombment will be immediately following the service in the Dogwood Mausoleum in Perry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Rice was a Tool & Dye Maker and Supervisor through the years. He worked his apprenticeship at Westinghouse in Columbus, Ohio, and remained there for a total of 20 years. He came to Perry and worked at Briggs and Stratton a number of years until the plant closed, then he finished his career at Champion Spark Plugs in Easley, South Carolina. Strong in his faith, Mr. Rice enjoyed the various churches he attended. He was a member and the Young at Heart Director at Victory Christian Fellowship in Palatka, Florida, where he planned cruises, activities, and programs for senior members. He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship in Perry for several years. After returning to Perry in 2015, Mr. Rice became a member of Calvary Way Community Church. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf with his sons. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Erma Rice; his sons, Steven Rice (Elaine) of Perry, and Rick Rice of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
