Aileen Davis Leonard's Obituary
ATLANTA-
Aileen Davis Leonard, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Harbor House Hospice in Atlanta. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens, 2106 Highway 41 North, Perry, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
Aileen was born on August 20, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Harry, had immigrated from Russia and married Aileen's mother, Nee. She grew up in Chicago with her parents, two sisters, and her maternal great-grandmother, Ganny. Aileen graduated from Stephens College in Missouri. She married James Frank Leonard in Illinois just weeks after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. After Frank returned from the war, she and Frank raised five children, who will miss her greatly, Cynthia Kornahrens of Summerville, South Carolina, Tom Leonard (Joanne) of Augusta, Greg Leonard (Gelle) of Macon, Candace Sturgis (Ron) of Tucker, and Terry Leonard of Tucker. Aileen is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, who are blessed to have known and loved their "Granny". Aileen will be remembered for her constant smile and friendly personality. She gave her family a gift of a warm heart full of compassion and joy. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Frank Leonard, and a sister.
