SHATERIA UNIQUE WATKINS
November 13, 2001 - January 11, 2022
PERRY – Shateria Unique Watkins, 20, experienced her earthly departure on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Freedom Church in Warner Robins with Pastor Troy Wynn, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. There will be no Repast. Shateria was born on November 13, 2001. She attended James H. Porter Elementary School in Bibb County where her grandmother, “Nah-Nah,” was and still is a teacher. Shateria enjoyed being at the same school with her “Nah-Nah” every day. She grew up singing in the choir at Shiloh Baptist Church in Henderson and proudly participated in the weekly activities in church. When she was old enough to attend middle school, she knew that she would go to Mossy Creek Middle School and became actively involved. Shateria played saxophone in the band which laid the foundation for her growth and success through the next six years and was chosen to be a member of the “Tri-M” Music Honor Society. Her career in 4-H also began at Mossy Creek. She perfected the delicious pizzas that she made, competed locally and across the state, and won numerous awards for her entries all the way through high school. Shateria liked running track for the Perry Panthers and was a dedicated member of ROTC at Perry High. She had strong goals for her future and was dually enrolled at Central Georgia Technical College in the Cosmetology program. Shateria graduated from Perry High School in the Class of 2020. Many would agree that she “lived up to her middle name” as she was truly a unique individual. Once Shateria arrived at Perry High School, she continued to flourish socially and made many friends. Everyone loved her infectious smile and her truly unique laugh. As a teenager, Shateria joined Freedom Church and continued to worship the Lord with her family. As she grew older, she became a “big sister” to many who never had one, and was a leader among her peers. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Left to cherish the memories they made with Shateria are her “Nah-Nah,” Sherry Minor of Perry; her mom, Shuwanda Brown (Afdosta) of Perry; her siblings, Ameria Brown and Marcus Brown, both of Perry; her maternal uncle, Antonio Watkins (Courtney); her maternal aunt, LaTonia Watkins of Valdosta; her first cousins, Camiyah Cephus, Travius Whitfied, and Jeremiah Whitfield; numerous other extended family members; and many, many friends. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
