    JUDY MARNEY EVANS

    November 10, 1962 - September 10, 2020

MARSHALLVILLE – Judy Faye Marney Evans, 57, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020, in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m., and the Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Judy was born in Americus, grew up in Montezuma, and moved to Marshallville as a young lady when she married Danny. They moved to Perry in the mid-1980’s, where she was instrumental in starting The Perry Times weekly newspaper, and later served as editor of The Georgia Pilot newspaper. She then worked at Richardson-Free Realty as the Rental Manager for several years. Since she enjoyed working in the housing market, she accepted a position with Conner’s Flooring America where she was employed for many years. She delighted in helping customers and friends remodel and/or build homes, assisting them with selections of floors, paint colors, and wallpaper. After Conner’s, Judy enjoyed spending some time as a homemaker. However, she missed seeing friends and meeting people, so she began working at Cain Bickley Chemicals in Marshallville. She was the friendly smile who greeted everyone as they arrived, and she enjoyed seeing her customers, many who became her good friends. Over the years, Judy enjoyed cooking and often shared her recipes in a column in her daughter’s newspaper, The BBQ Times. She loved gardening and working in the yard to create a beautiful home for her family. She loved being outdoors and spent many hours fishing through the years. She loved hosting friends and family at her home to enjoy meals and special moments together, especially at holidays. Her greatest treasures in life, though, were her daughter and granddaughter. Her eyes would sparkle like stars every time she was in their presence, and they will surely miss her caring devotion and bright smile every day. Those left to cherish the memories they made with Judy are her loving and devoted daughter, Audrey Ann Evans of Marshallville; her granddaughter, Evans Marie Campbell; her companion and long-time friend, Frank Bledsoe of Perry; Danny Evans (Julie); Foy Evans; her mother, Maureen Taunton Toole; her brother, Robert Marney (Paula); her niece, Felicia Rigsby Stossel (Ritchie); her great-niece, Sarah Eastridge; and her nephew, Blake Marney. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Donald R. Marney; and her sister, Phyllis Major. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
