ELKO – Jacob Peter “Jake” Russo passed away unexpectedly from a drug overdose on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was 23 years old. Parents, please hug and love on your children. If you suspect that there is a problem, please make time to pursue a solution. Funeral Services for Jake will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. The Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Michael Stovall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Friends of Perry Animal Shelter (FOPAS), 204 Kellwood Drive, Perry, GA 31069. Jake was born at Perry Hospital on January 18, 1999, to James and Lorri Reeves Russo, who lovingly called him “Dooker.” He loved his family and his friends. Jake loved to fish, especially on Florida’s Gulf Coast. His pets, lots of cats and his German Shepherd, Choochie, gave him joy and made him smile daily. Jake enjoyed his job at Lowe’s, installing windows and doors for retail customers. He was always nice to people, and was proud of the work he did. Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carmine “Butch” and Kathleen Russo. Left to cherish the memories they made with Jake are his parents; his older brother, Damen James Russo; his uncle, David Reeves; and his cousins, William Stephens and Sue Davis.
