FAYE NELSON SCHOLLENBERGER PACE
October 22, 1922 - December 12, 2020
Faye Nelson Schollenberger Pace, long-time Perry, Georgia, resident passed away peacefully on December 13, 2020, at the age of 98 at Autumn Terrace. She lived a long and event-filled life and played a role in the birth of several generations of Perry citizens as a nurse with Dr. Johnnie Gallemore’s clinic from the 1940s until the early 1960s. Faye was born to H.H. and Exa Nelson in Goodwater, Alabama, in 1922. In the 1930s, she moved with her family to the Perry area, where the family farmed. Throughout her working career, Faye served in the healthcare profession in Perry, Miami, Florida, and Pensacola, Florida. After retiring in the early 1990s, Faye returned to Perry to be near her four brothers and their families. Finding it difficult to stay in total retirement, for ten years during peach season, she and her then husband Jack, brother Charles, and sister-in-law Tricia ran a produce stand catering to the people of Perry and those traveling through the city. She and Jack also enjoyed working at the Georgia National Fairgrounds during the annual National Fair. In addition to those activities, she loved working in both her vegetable and flower gardens, as well as baking yummy cakes and other desserts to share. In recent years, Faye enjoyed her residency at Autumn Terrace, and the family is grateful to the leadership and staff there for the wonderful care they provided to her. Left to cherish memories they made with Faye are her family and friends including her brother Jarrett (Betty) Nelson of Perry; her stepchildren; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Melvin Nelson, Dan Nelson, and Charles Nelson; and her husbands, C.A. Jones, Jack Schollenberger, and Ed Pace. Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perry. Donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Perry’s Benevolent Committee, 1105 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069. A Graveside Service to Celebrate the Life of Faye will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in Marshallville City Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that everyone in attendance wear a protective facial covering. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
