Emma Jean was born in Laurens County and one of the eight children of the late David Flournoy Locke and the late Mary Etta Edwards Locke. A graduate of Conder High School, at age seventeen she married the love of her life, William Stuckey, Jr., and the couple settled in Houston County. The young mother of three boys, Emma Jean worked continuously to create and maintain a loving and welcoming environment in their home. Always a seamstress, she made many of her clothes and always mended the knees of her boys’ trousers after they had worn holes in the knees. Along with sewing, Emma Jean spent time knitting and tatting. Through the years, she made many table doilies for her home and loved to give them as gifts. Emma Jean worked for Belk-Matthews as a retail Sales Clerk and was delighted to see and help friends and family when they shopped at the old Houston Mall. She was promoted to the Procurement Department where she enjoyed traveling to other locations ordering merchandise to be sold in Warner Robins. Emma Jean accepted a position packing parachutes with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and retired after several years. She unexpectedly lost her young, beloved husband in 1976. She was always taking care of her family, and as her family grew, so did her love for them. Emma Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren. An artist at heart, she enjoyed painting. She traveled to many places in the United States as well as abroad. The trip to The Holy Land was most special to her. Emma Jean was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Warner Robins and was sad when her health declined, and she could no longer attend. Emma Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty years, William “Bill” Taylor Stuckey, Jr.; her son, Jerry Stuckey; three brothers, Alford Locke, David “Bubba” Locke, and Bobby Locke; a sister, Helen Sammons who passed away just one day before Emma; her brothers-in-law, James Harmon, Clinton Warnock, and Mark Sammons; and her sister-in-law, Polly Locke. Left to cherish the memories they made with her are her sons, Donald Stuckey (Becky) of Perry, and Alan Stuckey (Melody) of Warner Robins; her daughter-in-law, Gail Stuckey of Perry; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Frances Harmon of Atlanta, Linda Warnock of East Dublin, and Dorothy Beasley (John) of Jesup; her sister-in-law, Edith Locke; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
