ALRIE ADAMS
October 12, 1947 - November 6, 2021
PERRY – Alrie Joseph Adams, Jr., 74, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Services will be on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with the Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral starting at 11:00 a.m. A private Interment will be held in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to The Westfield School, 2005 US Hwy 41 South, Perry, GA 31069. Alrie was born in Albany to the late A.J. and Lucia Young Adams and grew up in Perry. A 1965 graduate of Perry High School, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era as a ship signalman. Upon his return to stateside, Alrie moved to the Atlanta area to attend Southern Tech, from where he graduated with an Associates Degree. During his time there, his roommate introduced him to the love of his life, Deborah Smith. Once they were married, they lived in Hapeville, and Alrie worked on the tarmac for Eastern Airlines. After nearly twenty years, he and his family moved to Perry. He immediately joined his father in the family business at Adams Heating and Air. And after a second twenty-year career, Alrie retired knowing that he had helped many families when their HVAC units needed repair and that he had touched numerous lives with his work. Alrie was devoted to his family. He loved sports, especially the ones in which his children participated. He was a very compassionate man who not only loved his family but loved living in and raising them in Perry, Georgia. In fact, after the unexpected loss of his son, Alrie penned “The Heart of Perry” that focused on the kind, generous, and loving people of Perry and their heartfelt actions when others needed them most. And through his life, he was always found to be just like one of those people he described in his “Heart of Perry” Letter to the Editor of the Houston Home Journal. Alrie was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Greg Adams. Left to cherish the memories they made with Alrie are his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Deborah Adams of Perry; his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and JR Moore of Perry; his son, Michael Adams; his two grandchildren, Reeves Moore and Jackson Moore; his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn Anne and Jay Turner of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and a great-niece. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
